What you need to achieve before your driving test
Before taking a practical driving test, learners are expected to show they can drive safely and independently. In simple terms, you should be able to:
Control the vehicle safely and smoothly
Use effective observation, including mirrors and blind spots
Respond correctly to road signs, road markings and hazards
Drive independently and make safe decisions
Deal with junctions, roundabouts and traffic situations safely
